Oyster - Tidal explores the meeting of movement and stillness through two organic forms suspended against a deep blue ground. Layers of pale blue, green, white and warm metallic tones flow across their surfaces, creating shapes that seem to shift between shells, fragments of landscape and objects carried by water.
Built through poured and layered acrylic, the forms emerge through a process in which gravity, movement and chance determine their contours and internal patterns. The fluidity of the paint contrasts with the calm expanse of blue surrounding them, allowing the intricate surfaces to appear almost suspended within the composition.

LILAS is the artistic identity of Laurence van der Sande, artist and co-founder of VAN DER SANDE. The name brings together the initials of Lidewij and Laurence, reflecting the personal world from which the work originates.
Her abstract paintings explore colour, movement and chance through an intuitive process of pouring, splashing and layering paint directly onto the canvas. Rather than beginning with a fixed composition, each work evolves through the physical act of painting, allowing gesture, gravity and spontaneity to shape the final image.
