Built through successive layers of poured and worked acrylic and mixed media, the composition develops through movement, gravity and chance. Areas of luminous metallic gold sit alongside deep black and fluid passages of orange and cream, giving the surface a changing character as it catches the light. LILAS is the artistic identity of Laurence van der Sande, artist and co-founder of VAN DER SANDE. The name brings together the initials of Lidewij and Laurence, reflecting the personal world from which the work originates.
